The Colorado River is 1,450 miles long and provides water to 40 million people in seven states and two Mexican states. The seven states that have interests in the Colorado River include Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming in the Upper Basin and Arizona, California and Nevada in the Lower Basin.
